IVs HALF OFF

Last week Lauren's bank of IVs looked like this...

There are even two more pumps on the left hand side that didn't make it in the picture. At one point, every single one of the IV pumps was working on keeping her heart pumping, opening her blood vessels, helping her heart squeeze, helping her pee, maintaining her potassium, balancing her levels, minimizing her pain, keeping her sedated, and forcing paralysis.

Today, she is down to only six medications! They are slowly weaning her down and switching her to medications that she will be on for the next few months and years. These medications will also allow her to be moved upstairs, as many of the medications that she was on are not able to leave the ICU.

Things are moving in the right direction. Now if only she would sleep.

  1. Dear Amanda,
I teach with Linda Smith at Vancouver Christian School and I just finished reading all of your blog posts....I know you don't know me, but I just wanted to say I am praying for your little baby and that I believe in the power of God's healing hand. It is so amazing to read about God's love and mercy on Lauren and I know He will continue to care for her and watch over her. May the love of Jesus be your source of hope and peace over the next few days as you go through the next hurdles. My prayers are with you and your family. In Christ, Cindy Fang.
