ECMO BABY

Yesterday while I was visiting Lauren, one of the nurses in the ICU who last saw Lauren about a week ago came up to us in shock and asked "Is that ECMO Baby!?" (referring to the large machine she was on after her surgery that was doing the work for her heart).  She couldn't believe that "ECMO Baby" was now happily sitting up in bed, eyes wide open, drinking a bottle.  She said the only way she recognized her was from recognizing me.

It is very nice to see professionals who are around very sick babies every day be just as amazed as we are at how well Lauren is doing, especially considering where she started from.
