A CHRISTMAS BLESSING

On the 23rd of December, we got to take Lauren out to dinner at Edible Canada. It was the most delicious meal I have ever had and Matt was talking about it for days! Thank you to everyone who came down and shared a meal. The owner of Edible Canada (who also gave Lauren this adorable stuffed pig) told us that they raised $1150 for a bursary for Lauren's education. Now we can push her all through high school and force her to do some sort of post secondary education because lots of people have given for her to be successful. It's sad that I'm already planning her future guilt trips.

In all honesty though, one of the things that has amazed me through this whole ordeal is the fact that there are so many people out there who support us and who support Lauren. Her extended family is a little more extended than just those who share her lineage. What a fabulous thought!

If you didn't get a chance to head down to Edible Canada for the turkey dinner, make a point of heading down sometime as the food there is delicious and, obviously, the people are wonderful. I can't wait to go for brunch again very soon!

If you didn't see the segments on the news, I've put the Global segment below.

There are some inaccuracies with the CBC story (link below) but I you get the idea.

(I have to work hard not to respond to the comments of "Slightly Insane" after the article. Though I still think about it. The cost of parking alone is hundreds, Lauren's monthly prescriptions are hundreds and are not all covered by extended medical, staying in the Easter Seals house for the first week was over $300, Matt has missed work and there is a huge cost of that, I'm delaying my return to work and will not be covered by maternity leave coverage anymore, and the list goes on and on unfortunately. Yes, we are so blessed to have the hospital procedures covered by our medical system but there are many other costs that you don't even think of.)
